Halloween Costume and Running Gear?

Did you know that a Tutu is a running gear requirement? It is. Yep, that is what I said.  A TUTU IS A RUNNING GEAR REQUIREMENT.  Maybe not gear, ok.  But definitely a wardrobe necessity for running.  Let me explain:

Today I decided that my lovely, beautiful, and sweet angel of a daughter would be a witch for Halloween. Yep. I think this particular choice definitely fits her, since she has taken to leaving me beautiful crayon murals on my walls and loves to add ventilation to our house by breaking windows. I have recently become a Pinterest follower, and found a really cute witch costume idea involving a tutu.  I have never made a tutu.  Seems simple enough, but I decide to google it and get a few tips.  I happen upon a website about a woman, mother of two boys, who went from couch to 5k, 5k to half ironman to marathon losing 55 lbs. in the process.  Her friends describe her as a "bad ass momma" and she wears tutus when she runs.  I did not stutter.  She wears tutus when she runs.  AWESOME! Her reasoning is that it is fun and functional - they are cute, airy, give you plenty of space between other runners, and, people like to follow the tutu.  Nice.  Now I want to be a bad ass momma running in a glittery tutu.

Something to ponder here my friends: it is not ironic that I just happened upon an article involving running and a tutu.  I think it is God telling me that I have finally found something that I can enjoy and be healthy with.  A form of exercise that is easy, cheap, and can be totally fun.

So, in December, I will be running the Rudolph Fun Run with my girlfriend, a tutu, and a big smile.
